A care home in Hove have had a pub built inside their residence providing alternative ways of caring. Arlington House’s pub was created through donations of money and furniture, as well as free labour from well-wishing electricians and carpenters.

The pub, named The Tennis Arms, provides pub lunches, quizzes and even weekend football on their 30-inch TV.

Natasha Clarke, manager of the care home, said: “A lot of the people here are living with dementia, so a pub is a familiar place for them. It brings back memories for the residents and they have a really good time here.”

Arlington House has 33 residents and provides 24-hour care for people over 65 and also specialist dementia care.

Rex Warner, resident of Arlington House, said: “It’s a nice pub because they serve non-alcoholic beverages. I come in every Sunday to watch the football.”
