Young storytellers mesmerise elderly with favourite books

Young storytellers have been sharing their favourite books with Teesside care home residents.

Pupils from St Bede’s Catholic Academy visited The Beeches Care Home in Stockton-on-Tees for National Storytelling Week.

The pupils, all aged seven to 10, brought books they are currently reading in their classes at school.

Cicely Hartley, a resident at The Beeches Care Home, said: “It’s been marvellous. Absolutely lovely. They’re such marvellous readers.”

Jess Brown, home manager at The Beeches Care Home, said: “We were delighted to welcome the pupils from St Bede’s Catholic Academy.

“It was so kind of them to visit the home and read to the reisdents for National Storytelling Week.

“They’re welcome anytime and we look forward to seeing them again in the future.”
