Yorkshire social centre for the elderly ecstatic over donation

Trinity Centre Whitby recently received a generous donation from an ex-headteacher’s estate when she died in September 2017.

Trinity Centre is located in Yorkshire and is a social centre for older people from Whitby and the surrounding village. They offer a wide range of activities such as guest speakers, computer access as well as games and music – and a chance to make new friends.

The donation will fund the centre’s new sensory programme: ‘Gwyneth’s Project.’ It’s named in honour of the donator, Gwyneth Kelly – who has a long career as a teacher and head mistress of schools in North Wales.

She chose to donate to the centre following her time in a care home and knew the importance of care and support for older people.

Celia Imogen, Trinity Centre manager, said: “The project will give the opportunity for older people to creatively share their ideas, imagination and memories. We are very grateful for this kind donation that will help to support participants maintain active lifestyles.”
