Moredon care home, Swindon, Wiltshire, has received a ‘good’ from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after they health watchdog demanded improvements.

After an inspection in May 2017, the CQC demanded the home make improvements to staff training and risk assessments when they visited. However, in July 2018, the CQC gave the home a ‘good’ rating and claimed the necessary improvements had been met.

The CQC report said: “People using this service told us they felt safe living at Hill View and relatives we spoke with agreed. People were kept safe from avoidable harm because the staff team had received training on safeguarding and understood their responsibilities.”

Etylin Astbury, a director of the home, said: “Our staff are great, absolutely fabulous. They’re the ones that made this home the place it is. It’s their work.”

The home supports up to eight people with learning disabilities.
