Veterans celebrate St David’s Day at Solihull and Surbiton care homes

Welsh Flags and Daffodils filled homes owned by the Royal Star & Garter Homes on Friday 1 March as the Charity celebrated St David’s Day with veterans.

The homes in Solihull and Surbiton also marked the feast day of the patron saint of Wales with quizzes on the country and by playing music by well-loved Welsh singers such as Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey.

Residents were also treated to delicacies including Welsh cake.

Raquel Pena Aristizabal, activities & volunteer manager at the Home in Surbiton, said: “It was a lovely day and to have so many gorgeous daffodils in the home, you could feel Spring is on its way! Some of the residents and staff here are Welsh, so it was wonderful to help share and celebrate this special day with them.”
