Spennymoor-based cancer charity help care home resident’s wish come true

Lothian House care home, Spennymoor, County Durham, has organised for a resident’s wish of visiting a barber for a haircut and close shave to come true. Care assistant, Chelsea Whitworth, came across the wish of Bob Oversby and begun organising it for it to come true.

Ms Whitworth contacted Mark Solan, founder of the Spennymoor-based cancer charity, to see if he could help make Mr Oversby’s wish come true. Mr Solan organised for Mr Oversby to visit C&S Turkish Barbers on July 12, where he was treated to a haircut, share and eyebrow cut.

Care home manager, Jill Carr, said: “To achieve another of our resident’s wishes is fabulous, not only did it have a positive outcome for Bob, it has also strengthen our community links. It was amazing to see Bob so happy.”

Every resident at Lothian House makes three wishes, which the team are working through to achieve.
