Smiles all around: Bexhill group take dementia patients on a trip down memory lane

Popular group, Singing Down Memory Lane and known for helping people with dementia held a 1940’s themed musical experience.

Leisa Jones, a local Bexhill singer, entertained 30 elderly people with a variety of songs from the war years and popular songs, as well as playing a trombone.

Everyone joined in the singing and was uplifted by the atmosphere created. The group said: “Many thanks to Tesco for donating refreshments, and to Heringtons for raffle prizes.”

The group enjoyed fresh cheese scones supplied by Wards, tea and cake then enjoyed some DiPaulo’s ice cream.

The Bexhill Observer reported Singing Down Memory Lane is supported by Bexhill Dementia Action Alliance and is run by her group of volunteers. They hold sessions, which are held on alternate Tuesdays 10:30-12:30 at the Bagnall Rooms, Sackville Road, Bexhill. If you’re interested, please contact Ronnie at BDAA@gmail.com.
