A new state-of-the-art residential care home which is being built in Southampton marked a key milestone in its construction.
The development was ‘topped out’ by Retirement Living at The Abbeyfield Society’s director, Douglas Webb – the project is Abbeyfield’s first leasehold care home.
An event was held to mark the placing of the last beam on top of the structure and was attended by local MPs Mimi Davies and Royston Smith, Gary Walker of the Dementia Action Alliance and Sion Rees, operations director of construction at Castleoak.
The care home will boast 80 beds and have an array of facilities including a hair salon, café and an on-site pub.
The project aims to aims to achieve the highly coveted Stirling University Gold accreditation for dementia care design.
