Manager at Cambridgeshire care home wins national care award

A manager at a care home in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire has won a national award for her ‘incredible dedication’ out of more than 1,400 nominations from across the UK.

Ceri Mills, general manager at Hickthrift House – run by Barchester Healthcare – won a Barchester Care Award in the ‘apprenticeship/learner of the year’ category.

The Awards celebrate volunteers and staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of residents’ living in Barchester care homes.

Ms Mills said: “I was overwhelmed to win the divisional title, so to win the National title was just incredible.

“We had a fantastic day with some amazing people. I am truly honoured to have been part of the day and would like to say a special thank you to Barchester and the Hickathrift team for all their support.”

After a successful telephone interview with a panel of judges, Ms Mills joined the other divisional winners at an awards ceremony in Manchester to celebrate their achievements.

Barchester Healthcare is one of the UK’s largest care providers.

Hickathrift House provides dementia and residential care for 52 residents.
