Lancashire care home thrilled as new deputy manager appointed

Bernadette Bennett all smiles in her new role

Springhill Care Home in Accrington, Lancashire has appointed new deputy manager, Bernadette Bennett.

Ms Bennett has worked in the care sector – privately and in the NHS – for 38 years and has worked at Springhill Care Home as a service manager for the past three years.

She said: “Springhill is a great place to work even though it is quite large.

“It actually feels like a family here and that is something I value. This enables us to make it a home from home for our residents as well.”

Springhill Care Home was rated ‘good’ at its last inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

“We offer careers in Springhill. Not everybody wants to go to college or university but if they come to work at Springhill we can give them underpinning knowledge and confidence to get the qualifications to go into nursing and hopefully in the years to come those nurses may come back to Springhill to work.”

The care home encourages its team to develop their skills and currently 85% of its staff hold or are working towards a minimum of Qualification Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
