Lancashire care home is ‘outstanding’

A care home in Ormskirk, Lancashire has been awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Home Instead Senior Care is operated by Bishops Senior Care Limited and is a franchise of the Home Instead group.

The home was rated ‘outstanding’ following an inspection in September and October where the ‘effective’, ‘caring’, ‘responsive’ and ‘well-led’ categories were rated ‘outstanding’.

CQC inspectors found the home has made positive links with the local community and that the home delivered training and support within the health and social care field.

Debbie Westhead, deputy chief inspector of adult social care, said: “This service has continued to provide an outstanding level of care but we saw significant improvements in the way it was led. We found the service was still delivering a holistic approach to care, focusing not just on people’s physical and mental health needs, but their desire for social interaction and improved independence.

“Their work was obviously well received because we heard nothing but positive feedback when we talked to the people, and their relatives, being supported. Staff told us they felt supported by the provider and their efforts were recognised and rewarded. We saw there was a positive learning culture embedded and people almost always saw the same carer, helping to ensure the continuity of their care.

“We also saw some great work the provider was doing in the community, to show awareness and create a strong presence in the local area. They were active in working with other healthcare professionals and community groups in developing future employment opportunities, supporting the care provision for future generations.

“A well-deserved second Outstanding rating, congratulations to everyone at Home Instead Senior Care.”
