Home Office pilot of the EU Settlement Scheme for staff working in the social care sector

The Home Office and the Department of Health and Social Care has now released the link to the EU Settlement Scheme for staff working in the social care sector.

In advance of the UK’s exit from the European Union on 29 March 2019, the UK government has committed to protect the rights of EU citizens and their family members currently living in the UK.

These rights include the right to live, work and access public services in the UK.

To retain these rights after 31 December 2020, EU citizens must apply for UK immigration status under the EU settlement scheme.

The Home Office is running a series of pilots ahead of public launch, with the second phase running until 21 December, which covers employees in the higher education and health and social care sectors.

The pilot is testing the application process that EU citizens will use when the scheme opens fully in 2019.

Feedback about the application process will be used to make improvements before the scheme launches to the public.
