Care home in Devon participate in a walking challenge for charity

The Doveleigh Care team in Devon has completed a 1.5km route to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

The walkers, a group of 16, include staff and residents from Doveleigh Care who run Dovecourt in Seaton, Devon and Doveridge in Colyton, Devon. Four of the elderly residents took part in wheelchairs.

All together they completed the 1.5km route around popular tourist attraction, Plymouth Hose, with staff and volunteers taking turns to push the wheelchairs to make sure they were all able to finish.

Doveridge is a residential home that specialise in the accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care, or dementia for adults over 65 years of age. Dovecourt looks after adults over 65 with physical disabilities or require nursing or personal care.

Doveleigh Care Ltd employ two activities and interests’ coordinators to cover the needs of the three homes.

Dovecourt was rated ‘outstanding’ overall and in the caring and responsive categories by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Doveridge was also rated ‘outstanding’ by CQC overall and in the effective, caring and well-led categories.
