A fundraising ball organised by Care England’s Avnish Goyal and Hallmark Care Homes has been hailed a success as they raise £140,000 for the Care Workers Charity and Alzheimer’s Research UK.

The sold-out event had over 250 people from the care sector in attendance and featured key sponsors including Precious Care Homes, Oomph, Care UK and Advinia.

Avnish Goyal, chair of Care England and managing director of Hallmark Care Homes, said: “We are absolutely delighted that we had a sell-out event and I would like to give a huge thanks to our lead sponsor CareTech and everyone else who supported the event by buying tables and giving so generously on the night.”

The ball including a silent auction with pledges donated by the care sector with one anonymous guest pledged £20,000 along.

Speakers spoke about their work, including Alex Ramamurthy, chief executive of the Care Workers Charity.

Mr Ramamurthy said: “I was blown away by the inaugural Care Sector Fundraising Ball.

“Hallmark Care Homes did a fantastic job organising the event and we raised a whooping £140,000 to be split between both charities.

“That £70,000 is going to allow us to test new preventative measures to support care workers pre-crisis, whilst also growing our grant giving. I’m proud to have shared the night with Alzheimer’s Research UK and incredibly thankful to those who attended and donated. Bring on next year!”
