Age UK’s ‘Big Knit’ returns to shelves

Age UK, the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life, has bought back their annual event – the ‘Big Knit.’

The ‘Big Knit’ encourages people to grab their needles and help the charity ‘be there for older people with no-one else to turn to.’

Each year, Age UK asks the public to knit tiny woollen hats that will be placed on innocent smoothie bottles.

The charity receives 25p for every bottle sold, which goes towards fighting loneliness among older people.

The event has run since 2003 and participants has knitted over 7 million hats and raised more than £2.4m for Age UK.
